Cancer consists of over 100 different diseases. Cancer can be
generally defined as any malignant growth or tumor caused
by abnormal and uncontrolled cell division. Normal body
cells grow and divide in a controlled and orderly manner.
When cancer invades the body, the abnormal cells grow
at uncontrollable rates causing the formation of a mass
of tissue or tumor. There are two different types of tumors,
benign and malignant.
Benign tumors are made up of abnormal cells but they
are not cancerous. Benign tumors are most often removed
with surgery and usually do not recur. The cells in
benign tumors do not move to other parts of the body
or invade other tissues.
Malignant tumors, on the other hand, are made of cancerous
cells. They will start out localized in a specific organ

through the blood stream which will cause the growth
of tumors in other parts of the body. Read
